Who is it for?
This programme is available for learners of all levels who wish to improve their English level by 0.5 IELTS band or more.
It is suitable for those who wish to take the Cambridge FCE, CAE or CPE Exams as well as those targeting specific IELTS or TOEFL grades. The course will also help those wishing to improve their English for business or work.
The course can be combined with any of the Bell Academic Skills or Business English courses and is particularly useful if taken before the IELTS Intensive Preparation Programme.
COURSE STRUCTURE
The Flexi-Learn English Improvement Programme is designed to provide a significant improvement in the English level of learners and comprises one or more modules.
Students joining the course can expect, depending on the degree to which they apply themselves to the course of study, to increase their IELTS Band score by approximately 0.5; students aiming to improve their band score by 1.0 or more, will need to take additional modules of the Flexi-Learn Programme.
Flexi-learning is available at any time, from any starting point. This is offered in modules of 150 hours which is composed of :
- 96 hrs of online directed study with a tutor supervising all work; plus
- 24 hours of one to one study with the tutor (eg 2 hours per week for 12 weeks); plus
- an additional 30 hours of unsupervised online study.
As the course is tailored to each student and is provided on a 1:1 basis, students may join whatever their level and may continue onto further modules without meeting specific entry criteria.
The course can be completed in a timeframe set by the student. It can also be made shorter or longer and the content can be custom-designed. As the course addresses the student’s specific individual needs, progress is faster than in group classes, so providing better overall value for money.
Learning Resources
Students will be given access to the Bell International English Campus (BIEC) for the on-line learning. This can be accessed at any time (24/7) from any computer with internet access and is available throughout the duration of the course.
The Bell International English Campus is a fully resourced learning medium with listening and speaking components. Elements of the BIEC to be studied will be selected by the tutor. The BIEC provides feedback to the learner on their progress and students can repeat exercises; the tutor can check the student’s progress, identify problem areas and can arrange remedial activities.
The Bell International/Macmillan English Campus includes FCE, CAE and CPE prepararation materials for the major English Language Examinations including IELTS, FCE, CAE and CPE.
